Appendicitis remains one of the most common intra-abdominal surgical emergencies [
1]. While surgery remains the gold standard for management [
2], the harm-benefit balance of antibiotic therapy has been considered compared to immediate appendicectomy. There has been consideration for medical management of appendicitis to avoid intraoperative and postoperative risks in multimorbid patients, and during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic when there was uncertainty of virus transmission [
